J.Crew Presents a Bright Fall 2011 Collection In Face of Lagging Women's Sales
>> Change is afoot at J.Crew - evident at the newly private brand's Fall 2011 presentation yesterday. J.Crew chairman and CEO Mickey Drexler, who just signed a new employment contract (running through March 7, 2015), chatted and took in the crowd, while the press-friendly Jenna Lyons (now�president and executive creative director of the brand) deferred interviews about the collection to head women's designer Marissa Webb. That's not to say that Lyons's influence wasn't present - a few of the models sported�Cutler and Gross eyeglasses that mirrored Lyons's own signature thick-framed black specs.
But after last week's reports that J.Crew's women's business declined last year, all eyes were on what Webb and J.Crew would do to amp sales back up. The tailored Fall 2011 collection, which featured hunter green patent loafers and a tomato red dress, was�inspired by an office screening of Bonnie and Clyde and The Great Gatsby, Webb explained:�"You have the whimsy and playfulness of Daisy [from Gatsby] and the structured menswear of Bonnie. The mixing of the two elements is the perfect J.Crew fantasy."

Jennfer Lopez Defends Save of Casey Abrams
Casey Abrams might still be in shock. The same goes for American Idol viewers, who didn't expect the judges to use their one save on him so early in the season.
But that they did last week, a decision Jennifer Lopez says she's fine with.
"We knew that it was kind of a radical decision because it was so early in the season, but to be quite honest... that is one decision that I haven't lost one ounce of sleep over," the singer told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show today.
Should the judges have saved Casey Abrams? Vote now!
Okay... but why Abrams?
"[Casey] is one of our most dynamic performers. He's so interesting and so talented," Lopez told the American Idol host. "I know it's crazy, but we had to do it!"
Now, of course, the decision is out of Lopez and the judges' hands. Best of luck choosing the winner, viewers!
"I really feel we put 11 amazing contestants in front of them, and now it's [about] who their favorite is, who's going to be their American Idol," concluded J. Lo. "I didn't realize I was going to fall in love with the contestants the way I have and feel for them the way I do."

Snapped: Snoop Dogg Visits Letterman

It wasn't raining in New York City yesterday.
Snoop Dogg, a man who cares more about his hair than most women do, visited the 'Late Show With David Letterman' yesterday wearing none other than a shower cap.
The rapper-slash-occasional-actor greeted the paparazzi in a red Adidas track suit, varsity jacket and, inexplicably, a shower cap. However, he later revealed to the cameras that his slicked-back hair was actually coated in enough product to last a monsoon without a hint of flyaway... so maybe it was just for style?
To us, he looks more like he's heading to play in someone's lawn sprinkler than to a talk show studio, but maybe shower caps are the new thing.

In their Summer 2011 collection, Los Angeles-based handbag and accessory line Della is releasing a series of clutches in limited-edition fabrics that serve a two-fold purpose: amping your summer wardrobe and creating economic opportunity for those in need.
On a temporary visit to Ghana, designer Tina Tangalakis formed an unexpected bond with local seamstress Beatrice Agabe to create Della, a line of vegan bags that not only support the Ghanian economy but also offer education and jobs for local women.
Whereas accessories of any print are generally outsourced for production, Della employs local seamstresses in the village of Hohoe, Ghana to handcraft each individual bag. As incentive, the women are taught about micro-financing, savings development and entrepreneurship, which will hopefully lead to women starting their own businesses in the future.
Each clutch features a divided interior, built in sleeves, and a zippered change pocket - big enough to tote to work, yet small enough to carry to a party. Every Della product comes with a tag signed by the seamstress that made it, and each purchase allows for the addition of seamstresses to the entrepreneurial program in Ghana.

There are four main interior design style categories used to create looks that represent a person's lifestyle and personality: traditional, contemporary, modern and eclectic.

TRADITIONAL

MODERN
Similar to the streamlined approach found in contemporary designs, modern decor's sensibility strips away even more, taking an extreme minimalist view on style. The most important element to this design is maintaining an uncluttered space. Modular furniture, glass accents and metals, like chrome and stainless steel, are key pieces found in this design style. Black and white color choices mixed with bright, bold furniture pieces are a staple in designing a modern look. ECLECTIC
Eclectic interiors combine different decorating styles based on the pieces you love.
