Yesterday Ms. Obama launched a new initiative to put 6,000 salad bars in U.S. schools over the next three years, following her official interest in childhood obesity. She broke the news of her program while speaking to students at Riverside Elementary school in Miami. And from the look of things, the fall season hasn't kept the fabulous First Lady from her love of color. Though many women have long put away their summer brights in favor of more muted tones like gray or camel, Michelle Obama is proving that bold colors can look great all year round.

Her eye-catching pumpkin colored pantsuit is an updated take on the traditional First Lady suit. To wear a look like this, you must have confidence and attitude. While her suit is refined and tailored, it's also modern and bold, just like Ms. Obama. She added a printed blouse with bits of the same orange color blended in to pull the look together, and accessorized her jacket with a vintage Hattie Carnegie silk flower pin. As dull, dark winter approaches, her pop of color style is just what we need to keep our spirits lifted!
